Located on the topp of a hill viewing the countryside, surrounded by stone walls, San Gimignano is said to be “the Manhattan of Tuscany”, because of its high towers, built by the ancient noble families, enriched with the commerce, who wanted to show their power! Visiting San Gimignano is a unique chance to go back in time, walking along narrow streets, admiring old stone buildings, the 13 remaining towers and loose yourself in a pleasant medieval atmosphere. We suggest to stop in one of the many wine shop of the village to taste the typical local wine, Vernaccia di San Gimignano! Volterra is a little town inside Pisa province but close San Gimignano in central Tuscany. As this Volterra was an Etruscan town before and a free medieval commune later. Of note are well-preserved Etruscan gates and tombs, medieval walls, a Romanesque cathedral, and Palazzo dei Priori, but it is possible to find evidence and traces from every historical period in this wonderful village! Vinci is a Renaissance village, in Florence province, Tuscany, where the great Leonardo Da Vinci (Leonardo from Vinci) was born. Beyond the beauty of this country village it is famous for the Museo Leonardiano inside 11th-12th century Castello Guidi. San Miniato is a Tuscan village known as "la città delle XX miglia" (the 20 miles town) because of its geographical position. Infact it was along "Via Francigena", the main route that connected Noth Europe with Rome in Middle Ages, and within a twenty-miles radius there were main Tuscany's towns, as Firenze and Pisa, Lucca and Siena, Pistoia and San Gimignano, Volterra and Vinci.
NOTA BENE: Our tours are planned for small groups,in order to preserve the environment and the quiet villages you visit.
