Bike Tours

Easy bike & wine tour + farm lunch

An easy bike tour to reach one of the best winery of Lucca D.O.C. area. After biking for some km along the Serchio river we enter in the typical Tuscan countryside, through narrow roads sorrounded by seasonal flowers and fruits and olive grooves. Once in the winery we will enjoy different kind of red and white wines they produce. On the way back we will stop to an organic farm where having a light lunch with their homegrown fresh foods harvested from the earth.

Lucca is surrounded by a marvellous natural landscape rich in beautiful hills, ancient villas, centuries-old olive groves, vineyards, wineries, farms, oil mills and stone parish churches with lofty bell-towers. This is the land where the DOC wines “Colline Lucchesi” and “Montecarlo” are produced. So, Lucca countryside is the ideal area for an uncommon wine tour, visiting "small" farms producing quality wines and excellent extra virgin olive oil.

What you have to know to rent an apartment or a villa in Lucca and feel really at home

Parking in Lucca: As in all ancient towns and villages Lucca city centre is pedestrian and you can enter the walls only to reach the payment parking lots. Free parkings are outside the walls at 10-15 minutes walking to the heart of the town. Payments parkings are usually free in the night 8 pm to 8 am (or 1,5/2 euro for the whole night) and they have a rate of 1,5/2 euro per hour during the day. There are no particular cards or subscriptions except the monthly ones. In general white lines are free parkings, blue lines are payment parkings and yellow lines are reserved to residents. To enter the "resident area" and the "pedestrian area" you meet some cameras that control the streets and so if you pass under them you will receive a ticket. So usually you can not reach the apartments by car and you have two solutions: you can leave the car in a free parking outside the walls and take a taxy to carry all the luggage (3 minutes, probably 5-10 euro) to the apartment. Otherwise you can leave the car in a payment parking lot and walk 5 minutes to the apartments. The night is free or very cheap so you have time to "understand" the town and to decide wath to do with the car the day after.
Lucca buildings: Most buildings of Tuscany historical centres (and villas in the countryside) are ancient property restored mantaining old style and magnificence. This means that all systems (electrical, safety, plumbing etc..) have been renovated in accordance with new Italian laws but the structure can't be changed. So it's very difficult to find an accommodation in Lucca city centre with a lift and it's easier to find high ceilings and double flight of steep stairs to reach a floor. So my suggestions to people doesn't love stairs for whatever reason, is to ask always information about the kind of structure/floor of the palace. (an italian first old floor could be alike a second/third modern floor as number of steps)MAY I HELP YOU?
